Dear
Church Family,
"If
one blade is good and two are better, then three must be
the best, until...four blades."
Yes, I know
it is a bad paraphrase of a new commercial for a razor
blade. Two blades were better they found out after
several thousands of dollars of research. The first blade
pulls the hair up while the second cuts it extremely
close. Then the triple blade came out, which the third
blade, I think, cut off your top layer of skin. Now with
four blades, you can wipe out the hair's ancestors.
Alright, most of you are wondering what is my point by
now. Nothing new, huh. This past year companies paid 2.3
million dollars for thirty seconds of air time during the
Super Bowl. They spend millions of dollars on research
before coming out with a new product. We have colas with
cherry, vanilla, blueberry, lemon, beer and crystal clear
color (although the last one didn't last because it
tasted like dish detergent). They spend millions making
the commercials and millions showing the commercials. And
they will make billions back in revenue.
What's wrong with this? Nothing. Absolutely nothing with
developing, advertising and selling a product to make a
living (depending on the product). Okay, Pastor Scott
again what is your point, then?
My point is this Christians (I'm not talking about
unbelievers) in the U. S. A. will spend more money on
Coca-cola alone than on missions this year. How can I say
this? Because we (U.S.A. Christians) did so the last ten
years straight. As a nation we spend an extreme amount of
money on product development and distribution on the same
type of products that we have already been using for
years. Why does our country do it? Because we consume
what they are selling, and all the new variations. There
is nothing wrong with this as long as it is held in by
priority. Jesus said, "For where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also."
At the end of the road, will we worry about "Did I
drink enough sodas?" or will it be, "Do my
loved ones know the Lord?". Decide where you want to
lay your treasure.
God Bless You,
Pastor
Scott Patz
