Dear
Friends,
The other day I had
to find a telephone number, that I knew I had buried
somewhere. I have not emptied all my boxes since the
move. The number was to the technical support to my
computer which was not working at the time. So, I started
digging in my closet through a few boxes looking for the
number. By just going through three boxes I came across
some interesting items. I have more lighthouses and ships
than even I realized. I found expired offers and coupons.
A few books that I haven't seen for years. But the
ultimate find was a stack of long playing record albums.
We're talking 33 1/3rpm's baby. The sixties, seventies
and eighties were well represented. Thompson Twins, Kiss,
Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Alice Cooper, Bob Newhart,
Bill Cosby, The Smothers Brothers, oh and a little band
from Liverpool. But the crème de la crème
was shining like a diamond, BARRY MANILOW LIVE.
Immediately I was transported back to Miami, Westwood
Lake, with the Russells, the Doyles, the Gordons and all
the rest of the gang.
King Josiah saw a need for a major clean-up in Israel,
although their clean-up was mainly Spiritual. Their
nation was cluttered with idols and icons and
self-seeking opportunists. He called to first clean out
the Temple which was cluttered with pagan idols. As they
removed the foreign gods and wiped up the dust they found
a goldmine as well. Some rolls of papyrus. As they blew
off the dust and began to scroll through them, their
hearts were pierced. These were the Books of the Law,
God's law for the nation of Israel. How long had they
gone without God's holy Word? Their nation, their people,
and even the Temple of God was cluttered with the
reminders of sinful living with all the idols and the
bones of their children which were sacrificed. They
needed a cleansing, a revival. (2 Chronicles 34).
Our lives as well get so cluttered. Maybe it is sin,
anxiety, hectic pace of life, or the cares of the world.
God wants us to go through the closets of our hearts and
let His Holy Spirit clean it out. Have you felt the
coldness of a dead heart? A heart so filled with other
things that the giver of life is pushed in a corner. Let
Him sift through the clutter so you can be "Trying
To Get the Feeling Again". When He brings it to you,
you will say, "Could This Be the Magic at
Last." He'll tell you, "Looks Like We Made
It," and give you a new "Daybreak." Then
you can head out for a "Weekend in New England"
and "Jump Shout Boogie" at the
"Copacabana." Sorry to get a bit silly but the
Manilow fans will appreciate it "Somewhere in the
Night."
Upcoming revival on October 15-17th at 7:00pm. Rev. Bill
Faulkner will be leading us. He will also join us for
Homecoming, October 19th at 10:00am, along with
"Joyful Hearts". Let the Lord work a continual
revival in your heart.
God Bless You,
Pastor
Scott Patz
