Dear
Friend,
Psalm 27:4-5 says; "One thing I have desired of the LORD,
that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all
the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to
inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide
me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He
shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock."
Many times I find myself seeking, chasing after a multitude of
things: Do I have enough money? Are my children involved in all
the activities they need to be? I would like to finish my
Master's degree. Is the church doing what it should be doing? Am
I reaching my neighbors? Are my friends growing in their
spirituality? Am I making new contacts? How can I keep my home
clean? These pursuits can keep one running in circles, but never
getting anywhere.
God calls us to seek after one thing; "When You said, 'Seek
my face,' my heart said to You, 'Your face, LORD, I will
seek.'" (Psalm 27:8). Jesus spoke of this when He said,
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew
6:33).
One thing we need to desire. That is to dwell, live, reside with
the Lord daily. Walk with Him. Let Him work in us to mature us.
All these other pursuits will fall into place when we follow
behind our Shepherd.
With love,
Pastor Scott Patz
