Dear
Friend,
"and He instructed them that they should take nothing for
their journey, except a mere staff; no bread, no bag, no money in
their belt; but to wear sandals; and He added,'Do not put on two
tunics.' Mark 6:8-9
There are as many different types of evangelistic and church
growth efforts as there are stars in the sky. One church uses
film clips in their worship service, another uses clowns for
street evangelism, yet another relies on their humungous choir to
attract people. All of these methods are great to attract people
to hear the good news, but they are incomplete.
God's commission to His children is not to attract attention, but
to make disciples. Jesus told His disciples to do this by going
out by groups of two (not alone). To make disciples, we need the
children of God, not a single child doing the work. Jesus sent
them out with only themselves to present. They had no extra
tunic, nor any attention grabbing device. All they had was to
present themselves and their changed lives.
Let us remember, the greatest disciple making tool is ourselves.
The world is already watching you. Is your life really changed?
Are you witnessing with your life? Are you depending on the body
of Christ or going solo? Take nothing but yourself.
With love,
Pastor Scott Patz
